At Choice we provide our students with an emotionally stable, enriched learning environment, where they can strive to reach their academic and personal potential. Classes are small and there is an emphasis on the needs of the individual learner. Above all, Choice is a school for bright and gifted children and the associated challenges and opportunities these unique children bring to the classroom.
We recognize that intellectually able and motivated learners need an enriched learning opportunity. We provide this by focusing on intellectual achievement, balanced with strong components for physical edcucation, fine arts and drama. Along side these pillars of the school program we emphasize careful attention to our students' social and personal development.
We address giftedness by ensuring:
- A maximum of 16 students per classroom teacher. This ensures that your child can receive individual attention yet be a member of a cohesive unit.
- Mastery and enrichment of the core curriculum. Students learn the required skills in less time than normally provided, enabling teachers to provide additional areas of enrichment.
- A clear learning path for each child through an Individual Educational Plan (IEP). As well as emphasizing a student's strengths, and working with his or her learning styles, an IEP allows us to make necessary
accommodations to ensure a quality learning program.
- A program for social and personal enrichment. The strategies for this
component vary according to needs but may include leadership
development, support for friendship and support for cooperation.
